Falcon Notes ("the app") is a notes app for Android, with the package name
lk.stechbuzz.falconnotes. This policy explains what information the app uses and how.
Summary
- The app does not collect, send, sell or share any information about you.
- It works offline. It has no internet permission, so it cannot connect to anything.
- There are no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking.
- Everything you write stays on your device, encrypted, until you choose to export or share it.
What the app stores on your device
The app stores only what you put into it:
- Your notes: their text, tags and labels, todo lists, habits, and the files you attach.
- Your settings, and the display name you choose, if you choose one. The name is shown in the app's menu and written into the backups you export.
- The app lock, if you turn it on: the app keeps a one-way hash of your PIN, never the PIN itself.
The database and every attached file are encrypted. The key is created on your device and kept in the Android Keystore. Nothing in this list is sent to the developer or to anyone else: the app has no way to send it.
Permissions
The app asks for one kind of Android permission: to use your device's fingerprint or face check, for the app lock, if you turn that on. Android does the check and tells the app only whether it succeeded. The app never sees or stores your fingerprint or face. It has no access to the internet, your location, your contacts, your camera or your microphone. To attach a file or save a backup it uses Android's own file picker, which gives the app only the files you pick.
When information leaves the app
Information leaves the app only when you ask for it:
- Exporting a backup saves a ZIP file of your notes, their labels and your files where you choose. Backups are not encrypted: anyone who gets the file can read it, so keep it somewhere safe.
- Automatic backups, if you turn them on, save the same kind of ZIP file to a folder you choose, every day, week or month, without asking each time. They are off unless you turn them on, and they are not encrypted either. The app can reach that one folder and nothing else outside itself.
- Opening, saving or sharing a file gives a decrypted copy to the app or place you pick. The app deletes its own temporary copy the next time it starts.
- Copy text puts a note's text on your device's clipboard.
- Links you tap in a note open in your browser, which has its own privacy policy.
Device backups
Android's automatic backup is switched off for the app. Your notes are not copied to your Google account or to a new device by Android. To move or keep your notes, export a backup in the app.
Deleting your data
Settings → Profile → Erase all data deletes your notes, files, settings and the encryption key. Uninstalling the app does the same. Since nothing is stored anywhere else, there is nothing more to delete and nothing for the developer to delete for you.
Children's privacy
The app does not collect information from anyone, including children.
